Doctrine

1.       The Godhead.  We believe in the only true and living God, infinite, perfect, eternal, unchangeable, who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 5:48; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:1-2).

2.       The Scriptures.  We believe the Bible, Old and New Testaments in the original writings, to be the verbally inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, that constitutes the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

3.       Jesus Christ.  We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (Col 2:9), in His virgin birth (Matt 1:18-21), in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:14-15), in His miracles (John 20:30-31), in His being fully God and fully man (Matthew 1:23), in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood (Romans 5:6-9), in His bodily resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20), in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate (Hebrews 7:24-25), and in “that blessed hope”-His personal, premillennial and imminent return (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17).

4.       The Holy Spirit.  We believe in the personality (Ephesians 4:30) and deity (Psalm 139:7-8) of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity.  We believe in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of all born-again believers (1 Corinthians 6:19) providing them with power for the holy living and effective service (John 14:17-26)

5.       Man.  We believe in the fall of man (Genesis 3), the universal depravity of the human race (Romans 3:9-12), and the lost condition of all men outside of Christ (1 John 5:11-12).  We believe in the bodily resurrection of believers and the eternal condemnation of the lost (Revelation  20:11-15).

6.       Salvation.  We believe salvation is provided by God’s grace through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for all men, and those who repent, believe, and accept God’s gift of salvation are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God (John 3:16-17, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7, 2 Corinthians 7:10).

7.       Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.  We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.  These two distinct complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.  Rejection of one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including, but not limited to: adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, and attempting to change one’s biological sex or otherwise acting upon any disagreement with one’s biological sex) is sinful and offensive to God.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.  We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.  Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of the church.

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church, members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly. (Genesis 1:27-28; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 5:6-8; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,18).

8.        Biblical Authority.  The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith.  The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Elder Board with the Pastor is the church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Acts 17: 11).
